(ITA) “Una virtuosa convivenza tra le opere conservate a Casa Romei e una
selezione di fotografie e di video degli autori di Cesura”.
Le cesure sono dei tagli, delle scissioni, delle schisi. Possono essere molto sottili, talvolta impercettibili a un primo sguardo, ma altrettanto possono diventare degli abissi, dei baratri il cui fondo non è raggiungibile dall’occhio umano. Esse possono avere una natura spaziale, temporale e culturale. Sovente sono il risultato della frantumazione di una unità originaria e appaiono come crepe tra frammenti di storia o frantumi di storie che solo uno sguardo interpretativo critico può accostare, al di là delle comodità del senso comune.

(ENG)“A virtuous coexistence between the preserved works at Casa Romei and a selection of photographs and videos by the authors of Cesura”.
“Cesure” are cuts, divisions, and schisms. They can be very subtle, sometimes imperceptible at first glance, but they can also become abysses, chasms whose depths are beyond the reach of the human eye. They can have spatial, temporal, and cultural natures. Often, they result from the fragmentation of an original unity and appear as cracks between fragments of history or shards of stories that only a critical interpretative gaze can connect, beyond the comforts of common sense.
(ITA) La mostra “Cesure” prende le mosse dalla contemporaneità frantumata e post-ideologica che anima l’attualità successiva al cosiddetto “Secolo Breve”, terminato, secondo lo storico Eric Hobsbawm, nel 1991 Il frammento, il “pezzo”, langue in stato di torpore ed è possibile riportarlo in vita collocandolo in nuovi contesti e creando nuove costellazioni di senso. Questa mostra si propone di creare così dei nuovi percorsi, accostando le opere presenti nel Museo di Casa Romei di Ferrara con le fotografie prodotte dal collettivo Cesura, attivo da dieci anni nella fotografia indipendente di reportage e nella ricerca artistica più strettamente intesa, sia fotografica che di video.
(ENG) The exhibition "Cesures" takes its starting point from the fractured and post-ideological contemporaneity that characterizes the period following the so-called "Short Century," which, according to the historian Eric Hobsbawm, ended in 1991. The fragment, the "piece," languishes in a state of torpor, and it is possible to revive it by placing it in new contexts and creating new constellations of meaning. This exhibition aims to create new paths by juxtaposing the works present in the Casa Romei Museum in Ferrara with the photographs produced by the Cesura collective, which has been active for ten years in independent documentary photography and in more strictly artistic research, both photographic and video.
(ITA) Non si tratta di una semplice giustapposizione, né un’operazione di rianimazione di un passato decomposto. Al contrario Cesure dà vita a opere nuove che si animano nel rapporto osmotico tra i contenuti storico-artistici del museo e le fotografie e i video di Cesura, dando vita a istallazioni inedite tra le quali il visitatore si muove e interagisce liberamente.
(ENG) This is not a simple juxtaposition or an operation to revive a decomposed past. On the contrary, Cesures gives birth to new works that come to life in the osmotic relationship between the historical and artistic contents of the museum and the photographs and videos of Cesura, creating unique installations through which the visitor can move and interact freely.

(ITA) Di fondamentale importanza è stata anche l’inclusione nella mostra del documentario ADO di Luca Baioni. Il vento della rivoluzione che ha mosso il mondo arabo è il simbolo del nostro tempo, in continua evoluzione e cambiamento. I fotografi di Cesura si sono impegnati a documentare questi eventi, raccontandone tutte le sfaccettature che hanno definito e continuano a definire questo processo. Attraverso lo sguardo di coloro che osservano la storia mentre si sviluppa, desiderando preservare questa testimonianza una volta che l'eco delle notizie si placa e impegnandosi quindi in una sorveglianza continua che va oltre il dovere della mera relazione dei fatti.
(ENG) Of fundamental importance was also the inclusion of the documentary ADO by Luca Baioni. The wind of revolution that sweep the arab world are the symbols of our time, changing and evolving. Cesura’s photographers put their effort into documenting these events, to chronicle all the facets that defined and keep defining this process. Through the stare of those watching history in the making, wanting to save this witness once the news wave trials off, and hence committing into an on-going watch that goes further the duty of reporting.
